Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 87489 bytes) in /home6/sherkspear/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php

I got this error in wordpress after submitting a post in my website . The error message simply shows that the memory size has exceed the memory size i set in my website.

The fix is simply increase the memory limit of our wordpress site.

This is how to do it:

1. First, always do a backup of the file we are going to edit. For this error we are going to update our  wp-settings.php file in our base directory.  “/public_html/wp-settings.php”      or  “/public_html/your_website/wp-settings.php

2. Then open the file in our text editor, i use notepad ++ in my machine.

3. Look for the line ” define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’32M’); ” as you can see it is in 32M.

4. Let us change that to 64M to increase our memory limit.

5. Save and update the file in our server.

Hope that helps.
